Grameenphone Announces Appointment of New Chief Marketing Officer And Chief Product Officer

[Dhaka, December 12, 2024] Grameenphone, the leading telecommunications service provider of the country, has announced the appointment of Farha Naz Zaman as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Solaiman Alam as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO), effective January 1, 2025. They will be integral members of Grameenphone’s management team. Prior to this role, Solaiman Alam served as the Chief Digital Officer of Grameenphone and Farha Naz Zaman served as the Head of Marketing of Grameenphone.

Welcoming the new CMO, Grameenphone’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Yasir Azman, said, "Farha’s appointment as CMO marks an exciting new chapter for Grameenphone as we continue to prioritize innovation and customer-centricity. Her deep understanding of our customers, shaped by her extensive experience across diverse functions, enables her to craft innovative solutions that truly resonate with evolving customer needs. Profile of Farha Naz Zaman

 

Farha Naz Zaman is a customer-focused and objective-driven professional with a passion for embracing new challenges and continuous growth. With over 18 years of experience in the Telecommunications and FMCG industries, she is a seasoned leader recognized for her expertise in Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience, along with a proven track record of execution excellence and driving transformation. Before this, she held several critical positions within the company, including Head of BTL & Consumer Engagement, Head of Media & Operations, Head of Digital Marketing, and Head of Premium Segments. Before joining Grameenphone, Farha worked with Unilever Bangladesh Ltd. as Head of Media & Digital, where she transformed marketing operations and overhauled the partner ecosystem for 22+ Unilever brands. 

Academically, Farha holds a BBA and MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. She has also completed several prestigious leadership and strategy programs, including the Telenor Accelerate Leader program, London Business School, Telenor Strategy Execution Online Program (INSEAD), and certifications in Agile Fundamentals and Digital Marketing. Farha’s excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades, including "Asia's Top Outstanding Woman Marketeer of the Year 2023" and the "JCI Women of Inspiration Award, 2023." 

Profile of Solaiman Alam

 

With over 24 years of experience in the Telecommunications and FMCG industries, Solaiman Alam is a seasoned leader recognized for his expertise in sales, brands and communications, strategy, pricing, new business, marketing, and the digital arena. Currently serving as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at Grameenphone, he joined the company’s management team in 2020 as the Chief Digital and Strategy Officer (CDSO). Prior to this, he led Grameenphone’s digital team as Head of Digital since its inception in 2016.  Solaiman led Grameenphone’s Marketing division as Head of Marketing, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the brand’s identity. Prior to joining Grameenphone, he held key positions at Banglalink, including Senior Director Marketing and Head of B2B, Postpaid, International Roaming, Data, VAS, and MFS. He began his professional journey in the sales and distribution function at British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB). 

Solaiman holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. He has also earned several professional certifications, including Telenor Accelerate Leader Program, Certified Usability Analyst, Management Development Program, and Inspire Leadership Program. His exceptional contributions have been recognized with accolades such as "Chief Digital Officer of the Year 2021-22," awarded by Bangladesh Brand Forum.

  • Internet packs can be activated through MyGP, USSD, MFS, IVR, Customer Service, GP website and any other Grameenphone Authorized Retail & Digital Channels
  • Auto-renew option of any internet pack is turned OFF by default (except BS prepaid and post- paid customers). However, customer can turn ON Auto Renewal feature after or during package activation.
  • To turn ON/OFF auto renew option after package activation, visit MyGP or dial *121*3#.
  • To check internet balance, please dial *121*1*4#.
  • After expiration (Volume or Validity) of every internet pack maximum PayGo charge will be 6.95 Taka (inclusive VAT, SD & SC)
  • Unused data Volume will be carried forward if the customer purchases the same pack within the active validity period or in case of successful auto renewal.
  • To Cancel your Internet Package, dial *121*3041#.
  • To enjoy higher internet speed, customers need to use a 4G/5G enabled phone & 4G SIM.
  • Average likely speed will depend on multiple factors such as handset, website visited, distance from BTS, time of the day, etc.

VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a technology that enables voice calling over 4G. Also, users can experience HD quality crystal clear voice with faster call setup time. Without VoLTE, your phone must drop back to 2G and 3G during voice calls. VoLTE allows users to stay on the 4G network during voice calls and can continue to have un-interrupted high-speed 4G internet experience. VoLTE calls will be charged in exactly the same manner as 2G and 3G voice calls. There are no additional data charges.

HD Voice Calls: Crystal clear conversations as if you are right next to each other. Faster Call Connect: Call setup time is way faster than normal calls. Efficient Multi-tasking: You can now make calls without disrupting your 4G internet sessions Improved Battery Life: You will experience less battery drain during call and internet sessions. To enjoy our VoLTE services, both caller and receiver should ensure the pre-requisites.

To enjoy our VoLTE services, both caller and receiver should ensure following:

  • USIM/4G SIM. This should be inserted in the SIM slot with data capability and “network mode” as 4G/3G/2G (Auto)
  • VoLTE enabled Handset and enable VoLTE option in the phone
  • To be in GP 4G coverage.
  • Need to have the upgraded OS Software provided by your handset manufacturer
