Futurenation, a joint initiative of Grameenphone, UNDP and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) organized the Futurenation Summit 2025 on 30 November at the National Science and Technology Complex, Dhaka, bringing together youth from all 64 districts alongside leaders from government, industry, academia, and development partners. The daylong event marked the formal launch of the Frontier Technology Leadership Training, a flagship initiative of the Futurenation Programme designed to equip Bangladeshi youth with future-ready technology skills.
Farhana Islam, Head of ESG at Grameenphone, delivered the keynote presentation, setting the tone for an inspiring dialogue on youth empowerment and technological leadership.
Chief Guest Md Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasized: “The future of industrialization and technological leadership lies in the hands of our youth. This initiative will help them gain internationally recognized skills.”
Special Guest Yasir Azman, CEO, Grameenphone urged students to seize this opportunity. He added, “Investing in youth skill development is not just an economic strategy—it is a national imperative. If we act decisively, Bangladesh can transform its demographic dividend into a powerhouse of industrial innovation and economic prosperity.”
The summit featured remarks from Stefan Liller, UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative, and other public-private sector leaders, praising the initiative’s transformative potential.
Through this program, Futurenation launched specialization course on AI&ML, Data Science and Cybersecurity from HarvardX. 1,500 students and faculty from 75 universities will access these yearlong courses to prepare the youth for specialized tech jobs at home and abroad.
Highlights included three high-level panel discussions on industrial transformation, research, and youth entrepreneurship, and an interactive “Design the Future” session, where young innovators presented solutions for future industries, technology, employment, and environmental challenges.
The closing session was graced by Mohammad Monirul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, and Stephen Forbes, Director of the British Council Bangladesh.
The Futurenation Summit 2025 stands as a milestone in advancing youth leadership and modern technology skills—affirming that when the youth move forward, Bangladesh moves forward.
